SRK's Review...

KANK says..."Dont marry someone for any reason, other than LOVE..."

It is undoubtedly the most awaited movie of this year...not

only for its Big star cast...Bigger budget..and even Bolder
theme...but also for it being the latest venture of a
writer, director who has been always written down by the
critics at first..but then risen as the winner at the end...a Man
who has become one among the most prollific story tellers of
hindi cinema with his 3 previous movies..KKHH,K3G...written
n directed by himself and KHNH...written n screenplayed.

The movie is none other than...Kabhi Alvida Naa
Kehna(KANK)...Now the most pivotal question is that, does it
come up to its expectations...and more relevantly..does it live
upto to the viewer's expectation and hype..prior to d movie
release...Well,the answer to that cannot be given rite
away...as it needs to be churn out by the viewer himself once
he starts thinking about the movie and the story line more
deeply after coming out of the theatre.

All said and done...let's come to the basic plot of the
film...wich is all about Relationships,Marriages and
Infedility...wich for a Karan johar movie is new..but an even
newer side of it is that..for the first time in his movies...all the
characters hav their own grey sides...and one feels for the
helplessness n the love of all of them differently at different
stages of the story..It is really a story of intense and innermost
feelings of normal married people whom we see around
us...but having said that, one should definitely agree that this
intense feeling of all the characters hav been etched to
perfection with the right relevance and depth to a certain
extent. The characterisation of the movie has done its duty
well as the viewer seems to relate with the emotions n
feelings of all the characters equally.

But all is well that ends well...The magic of karan johar's
writing is quite evident in the first half of the movie...as even
though it takes nearer to 2 hours, the screenplay is so
adequatly divided with the intense and lighter moments
having its own share on moving the story ahead. On the verge
of intermission, one feels that the movie is heading the right
way but stil thinking what could really happen to these
people and their feelings at the end as the viewer has already
started feeling for the characters as he sees someone just like
himself inside them.

For a movie which deals with such delicate feelings of
common married people has to b scripted with utmost
perfection as even the slightest lapse of a dialogue or a
moment in a scene can lead to the viewer drowning his head
down with dissatisfaction...And thats what happens with the
story as the deeds and reactions of the characters in the
latter stages of the movie tends to go away from the certain
boundaries which the viewer would have set by then, for the
feelings of the people in the movie, whom they see as
themselves...The fact that the viewer is relating to these
characters as a part of his own life,is a blessing for the story
as long as it moves well with the feelings of one who watches
it..

At a time when all the four main characters take the right
decisions realising their mistakes, atleast half of the viewers
would hav been disheartened by the sequences prior to
it...but the latter half would b keeping a final hope for the
characters whom they related with themselves until now,for
doing the right things in the right ways before it gets too
late...But the destiny of the movie and its characters ought to
b headed in such a way that this story can now go only in one
direction and thats wat leaves most of the viewers
dissatisfied with the coming scenes making them feel
that,"sadly, slowly and surely this is now going out of our
hands..."

Even the finale of the movie doesn't appeal to most of the
viewers as its more like "been there-done that" kind of an
ending to it...It certainly doesnt have that "expected, but stil
well played" climax of the karan johar movies of the past as it
could have been handled with a bit more care...Honestly one
doesn't expect such a simple climax from the such a great
writer of his caliber..But from the point of view of the
characters and their lives, one can't think of a different ending
than this..as by then its too late for compromises.

On a whole,KANK is a movie which deals with the innermost
n delicate feelings of the common married couples, which has
been handled with utmost care to a certain extent...But the
fate of the movie lies in the hearts of the viewers as its sure
that the opinions n views about the movie just after watching
it will surely start changing once or if u start thinking about
the characters n their situations in real life more deeply and
seriously.

The 3 main reasons to watch KANK are:
1.The story, the feelings and the characters whom u feel as a
part of urself at one stage or the other in ur life.
2.The music and the picturisation of the songs are nothing

lesser than mind blowing, especially the "Title song" and
"Tumhi dekho naa..."
3.You would surely learn what to do and what not to...If u r
on the verge of something like this in ur own life...cos let's
face it,we are all human...and we hav our own feelings
which at times we compromise for our loved ones and then
regret upon it later.

SRK's verdict:**1/2{*-poor,**-good,***-Great,****-Don't
miss it,*****-Movie of a lifetime}
